Help Understanding Best Practices for Scaling YugabyteDB in Production!

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working on a distributed application and evaluating YugabyteDB as our primary database solution. I’ve gone through the official docs and initial setup was smooth—kudos to the team for that!

However, I’m now moving into performance testing and want to better understand the best practices for scaling YugabyteDB in a real-world production environment. Specifically:

How do you usually handle adding nodes under high traffic?

Any key configuration tips (YB-TServer or YB-Master) I should be aware of?

What are the common pitfalls to avoid during scaling?

I’d love to hear from those who have experience managing larger clusters (10+ nodes). Any insights, war stories, or tips would be super helpful. I have also read this thread https://www.yugabyte.com/blog/yugabytedb-2-1-is-ga-scaling-new-heights-with-distributed-sql-sql-course-in-chennai but couldn’t find enough help.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Marcelo

Where are you based? If you let me know we can make sure the right team gets in touch to help.

Kind regards
Chris
