We have recently modified our Linux build to remove some unnecessary dependencies. As a result of that, the instructions described at YugabyteDB Quick start for macOS | YugabyteDB Docs (the “Linux” tab) will now work for Ubuntu in addition to CentOS 7 (tested on Ubuntu 16.04), with only minor changes (configure replaced with post_install.sh):
