# Blacklist node in cluster

What is blacklisting in Yugabyte?

There is not much info about blacklisting on Yugabyte documents.

Hello Dorian,

Please see below link. Blacklisting the yugabyte node is mentioned in official documents.

[Replace a failed YB-TServer | YugabyteDB Docs](https://docs.yugabyte.com/stable/troubleshoot/cluster/replace_tserver/#:~:text=Blacklist%20the%20failed,admin%20reference%20page).

ChatGPT also suggested to blacklist the node for maintenance activity. But there is no detailed explaination about this in official documents.

The `change_blacklist` is just for telling yb-masters to not put tablets in yb-tservers.

While `change_leader_blacklist` is to tell not to put tablet-leaders.
